What's going on guys, my name's Theoatrix and welcome to my updated Tempoross guide. Tempoross is a fishing skill boss that can provide decent fishing XP rates, as well as profit and rewards.
You may consider going to Tempoross for fishing XP, for the pet, or to unlock the sailing crewmate which requires 100 kc at Tempoross.
Guide Outline
If you would prefer to watch a video-version of this guide, I have linked that below. Otherwise, continue scrolling to read the written-version of this guide.
Requirements

So, to be able to defeat Tempoross in the first place, you do need to have level 35 fishing. And that isn't boostable, so that's a hard requirement of level 35.
Getting There
A great way to get to Tempoross is taking the boat near Al Kharid bank.

This has no quest requirements, and can be easily accessed by using an amulet of glory to Al Kharid, or a ring of duelling to the duel arena.

There is also the pharaoh's sceptre which teleporting to Jaldraocht and running south west will take you there.
Or there's the Camulet teleport to Enakhra’s temple, which is also close by.
Equipment
In terms of equipment, you can actually retrieve everything you need from inside a Tempoross fight.

There's crates inside with harpoons, ropes, hammers and buckets. But if you can, I would recommend upgrading your harpoon to at least a barb tailed one, which allows you to wear it for an extra inventory slot.

The dragon harpoon is another equippable one and has a fast fishing speed, although for the best points, you’ll want to use an infernal harpoon, and for the best XP rates, you'll want a crystal harpoon.

You should also bring the angler outfit, and eventually upgrade it to the spirit angler outfit, and this set acts as a rope within Tempoross.
You can also bring the Imcando hammer to have an equippable hammer, saving an inventory slot.
And lastly, the Lightbearer can come in handy for the special attacks from the dragon and subsequent harpoons.

When partaking at Tempoross, I would strongly recommend playing with the “Tempoross” Runelite plugin, which has a range of overlays and utilities which make the game a lot easier.
XP Rates
Now how about the XP rates? Well Tempoross provides competitive XP rates, sitting inbetween AFK barbarian fishing and 3 tick barbarian fishing.

In Tempoross, you can generally focus on either Points or XP. For points, you’ll be cooking the fish that you catch, and for XP, you wont cook many, if any, fish.
Your actual XP rate depends on whether you cook the fish you catch.

So the XP rates range from 22k at level 35, all the way up to 95k per hour at high levels with a crystal harpoon. Although, you can still nearly get 70k XP per hour while cooking, which are decent XP rates for fishing.

So in comparison to other methods, at level 50 fishing, Tempoross is slightly faster than afk fly fishing, but not as fast as 3 ticking.
Then at level 70, its possible to get up to 72k an hour at temp, which is nearing 3tick barbarian fishing rates.

At level 90, its still a competitive training method, sitting near the XP rate of 3 tick barbarian fishing.
Battle Overview
So, here's a basic breakdown of one Tempoross fight.

You firstly board the ship at the Ruins of Unkah, and once in the game, you start harpooning for harpoonfish on the islands.
While harpooning a double fish spot can spawn, where fish are jumping out of the water.

You can optionally cook the fish at the nearby cooking shrine, and eventually the first storm attack happens, where you need to tether yourself to a nearby pole with a rope.

If you fail to do that, you lose some fish and supplies, but you wont ever die at Tempoross. Then with an inventory of fish, you head to the ship cannons and fire the fish at tempoross.
While doing so, Tempoross might spawn some fire on the ground that you need to put out with buckets of water.

Then once Tempoross’s shield is down, you go to the center and harpoon the fishing spot to damage Tempoross.
Tempoross will then regain its shield, and usually you will have to repeat this process once more to finish the game.
Maximum Points
Now, if you're going for the maximum points, here are a few pointers.

So this is what you'll be focusing on: you'll focus on cooking the fish, you'll aim for the infernal harpoon, and the Imcando hammer, and you’ll also try to time the double fish spots to your advantage.

So when initially entering a game, if you're going for the maximum points, you should straight away go and fish for harpoonfish at the nearest spot. Then after catching around 8 harpoonfish, you go to the nearby cooking shrine and cook the fish you just caught while waiting for a double spot to spawn. Then when the double spot comes, you quickly go and fill the rest of your inventory there.

Now, there is a special strategy that can get you even more points per hour, faster than playing the game normally, and this is called the firefighter method. This requires the humidify spell, and it involves basically putting out fires for permits. Its low fishing XP per hour but is the best method for the pet and unique rewards.
The strategy is essentially playing the game, fishing a specific amount of fish, and it keeps Tempoross at a low energy level. So with that, he cant spawn any special attacks and the fires can spread, so then you can put them all out for a bunch of points.
Best XP/HR
Now, the fast XP strategy, and this essentially involves little to no cooking, and generally, to get the fastest XP rates, you should be soloing Tempoross.
Its recommended to use the crystal harpoon for this, since it gives the most XP, and spirit angler for the rope, the Imcando hammer, and bringing humidify will help a lot.

In a solo game, you want to catch the right amount of fish to lower Tempoross to certain health levels.
You initially catch 26 fish, then continue with 27 fish at a time, but switching things up at the end to increase your XP rates.
Mass World Walkthrough
Now I'd like to walk you through a complete mass world game.

So starting outside, you wait on the ship to enter Tempoross. Then I run down to the nearest harpoonfish spot and I catch 9 fish there. Then I go and cook those 9 harpoonfish, then I get ready for the double fishing spot like I showed earlier, then while fishing, Tempoross uses his wave attack, so I tether to the nearby totem pole. Then I go back to fishing and fill up my inventory.

Then I go and cook the fish until my inventory is completed, and while cooking you'll notice the lighting fire attack. Then I make my way up to the cannons and I begin loading the cannons but as I'm loading, Tempoross uses another wave attack so I tether.

Then I finish off the inventory, and go back to fishing until Tempoross is down so we can begin attacking. We attack for a while, then return to cooking and fishing, looking out for double spots. And there's the wave attack again so I tether, then I continue fishing, then cooking, then I go up and fire a full inventory of cooked fish. Then Tempoross should be down again so I go down to the dock and defeat Tempoross. And that's the end of the game.
Rewards
In terms of rewards, Tempoross can have some very noteworthy drops for ironmen, and some interesting drops like spirit flakes, the tackle box, the fish barrel, or the pet.

The tiny Tempor pet is dropped at a rate of 1 in 8 thousand, which is the same droprate as the dragon harpoon.
For early game ironmen, Tempoross gives a range of useful supplies, and in particular, getting the fish barrel is game changing for karambwans.
Anyways. that was my complete Tempoross guide. If you enjoyed this guide be sure to leave a like, thanks for reading.
