What's going on guys, my name's Theoatrix and welcome to my complete Scurrius Guide…
Guide Outline
If you would prefer to watch a video-version of this guide, I have linked that below. Otherwise, continue scrolling to read the written-version of this guide.
Why Fight Scurrius?
You may consider defeating Scurrius for a range of reasons…

Maybe for the competitive XP rates in all 3 combat styles, or to learn some bossing mechanics without being punished as much, or Scurrius can also be an excellent source of medium clues while you train your combat.
XP Rates
In terms of XP rates, you can get well over 100k XP per hour here, and if you're using ratbane weaponry.

Your XP rates are about 90k an hour with 60's in the combat stats. It ranges up to 130k XP per hour and beyond, with higher XP rates achievable depending on your prayers, potions and gear.
Requirements
Now, to be able to partake in defeating Scurrius, I would recommend at minimum having level 43 prayer for protect from melee.

While Scurrius wont 1 hit you if you don't have it, you will take a lot of damage over time which makes Scurrius quite hard to defeat.
Additionally, you should have at least level 50 or even 60 in the respective combat stat that you're training. This ensures you can defeat Scurrius in a solo, and you will be able to get away with lower stats in a group.
How To Get There
Scurrius is located in Varrock sewers, near the entrance, so an easy way there for all levels is to make your way to varrock and walk slightly north east into the manhole.

This means, the best way to get to Scurrius is literally just to teleport to Varrock and run there. There aren't really many faster ways there.
Scurrius Mechanics
Now I'm going to go over the mechanics of Scurrius, and throughout the fight, you primarily want to be using protect from melee, and alongside his melee attack, Scurrius has a magic, ranged and a rockfall attack.

The magic attack is distinguishable by its blue color, and as soon as you see that blue come up, you should switch to protect from magic.
Then the ranged attack is green, and similarly, you should swap to protect from ranged as soon as you see this.

The rockfall attack is the one that can deal the most damage, and for this you'll notice a rockfall animation appearing on your screen, and you just need to move away from the tile to dodge the attack.

The battle itself is split into 3 separate phases and you can tell when Scurrius is changing phase by when it goes to eat cheese. While Scurrius is eating cheese, he attacks with magic and ranged, and you should be using protection prayers for these.
So phase 1 and 2 are exactly the same, it's just protect melee most of the time, and dodging the rockfalls.
Phase 3 is a little different, where Scurrius goes to the center of the room and starts attack with ranged and magic, all while rocks fall on you. To avoid damage, just prayer flick the correct prayer, then dodge the falling rocks.

Also, Scurrius will occasionally spawn 6 giant rats in the arena, and you will always deal a max hit on these rats, which can really increase your XP rates overall. And with ratbane weaponry, you can attack these rats every tick, for very fast kills and XP.
Fight Walkthrough
Next I'm going to take you on a complete fight run through so you can see what a battle looks like.

So starting off, I go to the entrance, and I right click and select private. This is much much easier as a solo-er, and you shouldn't go into the group version if you're soloing.

So then I turn on protect from melee and run in to fight Scurrius. I unload my special attacks then Scurrius starts eating cheese, entering phase 2. During this I look out for Scurrius’s ranged and mage attacks, and the rats also spawn, so I quickly deal with them.

I essentially skipped phase 2 in this fight, then Scurrius moves into the middle of the room for phase 3.
Scurrius uses ranged and magic attacks here, and I need to dodge the rockfall attacks.
Eventually, Scurrius is defeated.
Gear Progression
Now I'm going to cover your gear and inventory for Scurrius...

And in your inventory, you should bring combat boosting potions, as well as a couple of prayer potions. You should bring some food, along with a spec weapon and a 1 click teleport.
As a low level player, this is your ideal setup. You should prioritize your strength bonus with items like the fire cape, fighter torso and dragon defender.

For your special attacks, the dragon dagger or dragon claws are excellent options.
As a mid level setup, you could bring ratbane weaponry at this point, and at the higher levels the scythe is the best in slot.

And if you're coming to Scurrius to train your ranged or magic, bring your best DPS setup, with the minimum for ranged being a magic shortbow, and the minimum for magic being Ibans blast.
AFK Scurrius
Now before I finish up, I want to cover how you can kill scurrius AFK, and this is how I got the Scurry pet.

AFKing Scurrius involves using the blood barrage spell and auto retaliate. And then you can AFK for as long as your prayer points last with protect melee, so that's 5 to 10 minutes of AFK time. In my experience, if you have a high defence level, you’ll be able to AFK with no issues, but with a lower defence and lower magic level, you may die a little bit.

So I would recommend having at least 90 magic and 90 defence for this method, and on top of that, it's almost required to use the entire Virtus armour set.

But, if you have the blood sceptre and full bloodbark, that can work as well. Blood bark is surprisingly good here, since it increases how much you heal from blood barrage, and with full blood bark and a blood sceptre, 38.5% of your damage can go back to your health.
So casting blood barrage for a full hour is going to cost around 1.7 mil GP in runes. And that assumes 1 thousand casts per hour, whereas it is possible to get up to 1.2k an hour.

These are the recommended weapons for this method, where the blood sceptre works best, followed by a Kodai or nightmare staves, then the dragon hunter wand and the ancient sceptre. You will need to watch your health a bit more closely if you use a weaker weapon.

Overall, the Scurrius pet is dropped at a rate of 1 in 3000, and to be on the rate for the pet, its going to take around 100 hours.
