OSRS Custodian Stalkers

Custodian Stalkers are a new slayer monster introduced with Varlamore Part 3 and they provide some of the highest slayer xp rates in the game. This is because they are cannonable, burstable and theyre in multicombat.

Requirements

Custodian Stalkers are assigned by chaeldar and neive, and that means that both duradel and konar do not assign custodia stalkers as a task.

To be able to get a task in the first place though, you do need to complete the shadows of custodia quest, which is a fairly short and easy quest, but it does have some skill requirements.

Location

Stalkers are found in the stalker den underneath custodia pass, and this is located in the central region of varlamore. Within the den, there are multiple single combat and multi combat spots found around the cave.

Stalker Variants

There are 3 variants of stalkers, theres juvenile, mature and elder, each with increasing slayer level requirements.

All three stalkers drop the broken antlers, then the mature and elder have a chance of dropping the antler guard. And the elder custodian stalkers can drop the alchemists signet, which is a key used to open a chest in the mixology area.

Key Slayer Information

Here are the key things you need to know about this task.

All three variants of custodian stalkers can be bursted or barraged, although the mature and elder variants are by far the best in terms of cost effectiveness and xp per hour.

Once a stalker reaches 20 percent hitpoints, they have a special attack where they apply a bleed effect to you. Normally you need to swap your protection prayers to protect mage to avoid this, but its not worth doing that if youre in multicombat with them. So with that, you should bring blood burst or blood barrage if youre maging them, just to heal from this special attack, or if youre using the venator bow or melee, you can bring bones to peaches to heal up.

Loot From Stalkers

On average, a juvenile custodia stalker drops 1.7k in loot per kill, matures are 4.7k and elder stalkers drop 6.7k on average per kill. (Prices As Of September 2025)

To put that into perspective, dust devils are currently 3.1k loot per kill, and nechryaels are 5.3k per kill, so the elder custodia stalkers are more profitable than even nechryaels.

Fastest Slayer XP

So to get the fastest possible slayer xp on this task, it involves cannoning while bursting or barraging, and in particular, if youve unlocked them, the elder stalkers are the best experience. Despite there being less of them, they have a lot more hitpoints and overall less monster tagging is required. To stack up the stalkers, you can run back and forth 2 tiles away and they will stack up automatically - then you can just burst them until theyre defeated, then you can use darts to get the aggression of the newly spawned stalkers…

Most AFK Slayer

To get the most AFK experience with this task, its recommended to go to the single way combat area of the cave and use a cannon to keep the aggression going. You can also use goading potions and prayer regeneration potions to afk even longer, but you can definitely just get away with regular afking and using bones to peaches to heal up.

Most Profit Slayer

To get the most profit from this task, you should not use a cannon, nor should you burst or barrage them. You can just use regular melee or ranged to kill them, and from a task of 200 custodian stalkers, you can expect to profit a bit over 1 mil.
