OSRS Zombie Axe

ree

The Zombie Axe is a powerful mid-game weapon that has quickly become a favorite among players navigating the gap between Dragon Scimitar and Abyssal Whip. Here’s your guide to finding it, fixing it, and putting it to good use.

How to Obtain the Zombie Axe

  • The Broken Zombie Axe drops from Armoured Zombies in Zemouregal’s Base, unlocked after completing the Defender of Varrock quest.

    • If you’ve also completed The Curse of Arrav, head to Zemouregal’s Fort—Armoured Zombies here have a higher drop rate for the Broken Zombie Axe, though the area is tougher to access.

  • Drop Rate: Approximately 1 in 800 per kill in the base, with Fort offering a slightly better rate (1/600).

Repairing the Axe

Once you’ve obtained the Broken Zombie Axe, you’ll need to repair it using an anvil:

  • Requirement: 70 Smithing (boosts like spicy stews or the Smithing cape apply).

  • Repairing grants 500 Smithing XP.

  • Both broken and repaired versions are tradeable for non-Ironman accounts; Ironmen must obtain and repair it themselves.

Strategic Uses & Comparisons

  • Combat Situations: Especially potent against high-defense enemies and undead, its slash reliability shines in strategic boss fights.

  • Mid-Game Staple: Ideal for players transitioning between dragon-tier weapons and Abyssal-Whip-level gear.

  • Comparison to Abyssal Bludgeon: Though the Bludgeon offers a faster attack speed (4 ticks vs 5 ticks), the Zombie Axe excels in specific scenarios such as web slashing and easier acquisition.

Zombie Axe Tips

  • Use area-of-effect attacks and considerations like Salve Amulets to speed up Armoured Zombie kills.

  • A drop rate calculator like Sage’s OSRS Drop Rate tool can help manage expectations—use it with the 1/800 rate to estimate how many kills you’ll need.

  • Plan for Repair: Bring a hammer and ensure you're at or boosted to 70 Smithing before farming.

  • Choose the Right Location: Start in Zemouregal’s Base, but switch to the Fort if you need a higher drop rate and can handle the tougher enemies.

The Zombie Axe is a superb mid-game weapon in OSRS—powerful, versatile, and realistically attainable. With a reasonable farming process, high stats, and utility in various boss and slayer scenarios, it’s a smart purchase for your gear rotation.
