If you would prefer to watch a video-version of this guide, I have linked that below. Otherwise, continue scrolling to read the written-version of this guide.
Requirements

To be able to defeat tormented demons, you do need to have completed the while Guthix sleeps quest, which has fairly high requirements, with 180 quest points, plus a range of stats in the 60s.
Along with the quest, it's strongly recommended to have at least level 80s in the melee combat stats, as well as 80 plus ranged. So you do require both melee and ranged to fight them effectively. Having 70 prayer is also helpful, for at least piety, and 74 prayer helps even more for rigour.
Getting There

Tormented demons are located in the Guthixian temple which you access during the While Guthix Sleeps quest..
The fastest way there is with a Guthixian temple teleport scroll, which takes you to the entrance.
These are 6k each, so a cheaper and decent alternative, is to use a games necklace teleport to tears of Guthix then you use a sapphire lantern on the light creatures, and travel into the chasm. Then, you follow the same path you followed during the quest, all the way to the place where you fought the tormented demons.
Mechanics
Next I'm going to cover all of the mechanics that TDs can use.

Tormented demons attack with all 3 attack styles. The longranged green attack is ranged, the orange fireball is magic, and to know if the demon is using melee, you can stand from a distance, then if it walks towards you, its currently meleeing.
Every 150 damage that they take, tormented demons will switch their own protection prayers, in a similar fashion to demonic gorillas.

Every 36 seconds, the demons bind you, and when bound, they throw fireballs at you, which you should run 2 tiles away from. During this time, the orange shield around the demon goes down meaning you have high accuracy and slow weapons hit harder. So during this phase, its advised to use slow heavy hitting weapons like the Dharok’s greataxe or the heavy ballista. 7 tick weapons, so the slowest weapons have a much bigger damage bonus on this phase..
After this attack, the tormented demons change their attack style.
Fight Run-Through
Alright, now ill take you on a full fight walkthrough so you can see exactly how to defeat them.
I would recommend using melee and ranged to fight tormented demons. Ideally, you need at least 2 different attack styles.

Starting off, I attack a nearby demon with ranged, since its protecting from melee, and after a few hits, it uses its first attack which is ranged, so I turn on protect from ranged. The fight is pretty AFK for a while, until the demon uses the bind attack and throws out fireballs, which I dodge by moving.

Then the demon swaps its attack style to melee, so I turn on protection from melee, and the demon also lost 150 health so it swapped its protection prayers, so I swap to my melee set.
And now since it just used the bind attack, the shield is down, so this is where you use your slow heavy hitting weapon.

Then the fight continues as normal, and eventually it changes prayers, so I swap back to my ranged gear. Then after a bit, it uses the bind attack and the big fireballs, which I dodge, and now the demon starts attacking with magic.
So I continue attacking, and then it swaps prayers once again, so back to the melee gear. And then it swaps attack style, back to melee, so I put on protect melee, and then I finish the kill…
Advanced Strategies
With some practice, its possible to attack up to 3 at once.

Since there's a timer on the shield mechanic you can get more of the bonus big hits while fighting 3 of them, so your kills per hour goes up. Although, its generally a lot more effort for only a small boost in kills.
So depending on your location in the temple, you can attack 2 at once, where one will melee and the other will range and mage. Or When fighting 3 at once, one uses melee, one uses mage and range, and the third constantly throws fireballs.
Gear & Inventory
Now lets talk about gear, and I'm going to show you 3 recommended setups, the first being the minimum setup, then budget, then the max gear setup.

The minimum setup involves using an Arclight and a sunlight hunters crossbow, although there is a broad range of other ranged weapons you can use. Mixed hide is best here since you wont need to swap your armour at all.

With a little bit of money, with the budget setup, you can upgrade to eclipse moon armour, although the weapons and gear are the same.

In terms of the max setup for tormented demons, you ideally need to be using the scorching bow and the emberlight, with top tier equipment, like torva and elite void. You should bring a ballista and a Dharoks greataxe for when the demons have no shield.
Loot
To finish the video, I'm going to talk about the notable drops from tormented demons.
The most sought after drop is the tormented synapse, which currently sells for 49 mil, or ironmen aim to use it to upgrade their weaponry. There's also the burning claw drop, worth about 8 mil right now.
Anyways, that is my complete Tormented Demons guide. Thanks for reading.
