What's going on guys, my name's Theoatrix and here are some fast and free ways to 99 magic in Old School Runescape.
Guide Outline
If you would prefer to watch a video-version of this guide, I have linked that below. Otherwise, continue scrolling to read the written-version of this guide.
Mage Training Arena
Starting with an honourable mention, which is farming infinity robe top from the magic training arena.

With the recent magic changes, infinity now gives a magic damage boost, which increased its price and profitability.
On average, it takes around 6 and a half hours to get enough points for the infinity robe top, and you can sell them for 2.5mil each.
So farming infinity robe tops, you can expect to make over 300k GP profit per hour, after the cost of the runes, while levelling magic.

The mage training arena has 4 sections, and for most of the rewards you need points from each section. To be able to partake in all 4 sections, you need at least 33 magic to cast all of the spells.
In terms of XP rates, you can expect over 100k XP per hour in the alchemists room, however, in the graveyard room, your XP rate will cap out at 15k per hour.
So the XP rates are pretty inconsistent, but it is a profitable magic training method. The reason why this is an honourable mention, is its not overly fast, but it is a profitable training method.
Enchanting Jewellery
In 2017, Jagex introduced silver jewellery, and certain pieces of silver jewellery can make high profits from enchanting.

Then in 2018, Jagex introduced auto enchanting, where you can now just click the spell once to process your entire inventory.
Currently, enchanting opal rings makes 2 mil GP per hour, available to players with level 7 magic, although that probably wont last.
A more reliable one is enchanting dodgy necklaces, which are the opal necklace, and you make 650k an hour.

Another one is the bracelet of slaughter, where enchanting topaz bracelets will net close to 500k GP per hour. These are currently in high demand with the recent Arraxxor release, since they extend your task.
At the same time, you'll get competitive XP rates, reaching over 120k XP per hour at higher levels.
Your XP rate depends on whether you manually cast the spell, or you use the auto-cast feature. Manually casting is more than 2 times faster than auto-casting. Although the ability to swap between auto-casting and manual casting freely makes this an inviting method.

Enchanting dragonstone gives over 120k XP per hour if you manually cast, and you'll profit around 500k with necklaces, bracelets and amulets.
Enchant onxy and zenyte can not be considered a fast method since buying enough jewellery for an hour will take time, but it can be highly profitable.
If you stay patient with the grand exchange, with offers under market value, you can earn over 50k profit per enchantment. This does require heaps of starting capital though.
Passive Training
The most efficient way to 99 magic, is training it passively, while doing another skill or activity.

For example, you can alch in-between attacks, or while you train agility, while you do a quest, during your farm runs, and more.
If you're into alching, a decent strategy is setting buy orders for consistently profitable items that have low trade limits. Some examples include, lava battlestaves, dragon med helms, ancient ceremonial, the amulet of the damned, and all of these items have an 8 buy limit, but will slowly buy over time.

Black dhide bodies are another decent one, and they have a 70 buy limit.
It takes 198 thousand alchs to reach 99 magic, which is equal to 165 hours of playtime.
Scurrius
Defeating Scurrius could be considered a fast and slightly profitable magic training method. Any damage to Scurrius has a 20% XP boost, so you can get over 100k magic XP per hour from a low level.

It's best done with the bone staff, which only uses 1 chaos rune per charge, making it a low cost option.
The average loot from Scurrius is 10k, which is essentially 100 casts, and you'll more than likely defeat Scurrius in less than 100.
Being a rat bone weapon, it has a +10 increase to the max hit against rats, and any rat spines you get, you can trade them in for 5k magic XP.

With that, higher levelled players can max out at above 150k magic XP per hour…
Unlike the other methods on this list, Scurrius also has the chance to drop the Scurry pet, at a rate of 1/3000.
Slayer Bursting
Bursting through slayer can also be considered a passive magic training method. And bursting in general can be a fast and free way to 99 magic.

At lower levels, you can cast smoke burst on temple spiders for high XP rates. Smoke burst only requires 62 magic, and you can get well over 100k XP per hour here. There are zero requirements to access temple spiders - you just have to enter Kourend, which doesn’t even need a quest.
Their average loot is only 1.5k though, so you might lose a bit of money here, however, as you progress your account, you can access dust devils, nechryaels and smoke devils which are all profitable to burst, or they break even.
Those all have a slayer level requirement to kill, but all have high value alchable drops, as well as some stackables.

There's also abyssal demons, which you can burst in the catacombs, and those have an average loot over 5k, mostly due to the fairly common abyssal whip drop. To burst these, you want to use smoke burst, and you should go into the northern area of the catacombs of Kourend. If you stand in the middle corridor, you can get the agression of the abyssal demons in both rooms, then you can stack them up and smoke burst them for fast magic experience.
If you want even faster XP rates, you can use barrage, but with this you will lose money. Although as long as you're fighting one of the profitable monsters I just mentioned, you will make a lot of the losses back.
Tan Leather Spell
Casting tan leather could also be considered a fast and free way to 99 magic, where you can get up to 130k XP per hour.

It requires 78 magic plus the hard Fremennik diary to cast, and with all the types of dragonhide, you can profit over 1 mil per hour with most of them. The most profitable hide to tan right now is blue dragonhide, with 160GP profit per tan. There are two downsides to this method though.
Firstly, it requires a lot of starting capital to make a decent profit from this method, at least 20 mil. And secondly, this method requires a lot of clicking, it's not AFK at all, and requires almost your full attention.
Plankmake Spell
Plankmake is another fast and profitable magic method, where you can earn up to 165k XP per hour.

With mahogany planks, you can earn about 450k GP profit per hour as well, which is fairly high for such a fast training method. The other planks aren't very profitable, and you'll actually lose money with regular and oak planks..

Plankmake is similar to enchanting jewellery, where you can either manually cast, or auto cast. 165k XP an hour is from manually casting, but if you choose to autocast, you'll earn 90k magic XP per hour, with AFK intervals lasting 90 second at a time.
Casting plankmake requires the Dream Mentor quest.
Questing deserves a mention as a fast and free magic method, where you can get over 500 thousand magic experience from completing quests, if you include the combat XP lamps. Most notably, desert treasure 2 gives 300k XP in combat skills.
